This movie is the ish. I wasn’t expecting much considering the amount of saturation in typical black films. I have been waiting for a long time to see a movie like Boyz N Tha Hood, and Menace to Society, but for the east coast. It took me a while to catch on to the film but when I saw it on Instant Queue on Netflix, it was game over.
Ace, Mitch, & Rico. They each represent some popular hood star character. It’s difficult who’s my favorite because they are so different. And the funny part is, I can’t really say which is my favorite scene. I guess the most memorable scene was when Rico (Rapper Cam’ron) was checkin’ some dude on the street. Draws and all, that guy was shook. That scene was hilarious and made me like Cam’ron even more.
Mekhi Phifer probably displays his best performance and reinforces the argument that he might be the best underrated black actors of all-time. I consider him up there with the likes of Will, Morgan, and even Denzel. To me, he’s the best of the younger generation of black actors.
By the way, Ace is the S#!t too.
